Starting CAPI work

Note: This section describes how to set up CAPI fieldwork in CCA or Supervisor. For details on using the CAPI interviewing modules, see the section on conducting CAPI fieldwork.

Interviewing devices

Askiafield allows you to run CAPI surveys on a variety of interviewing devices:

CAPI interviewing is managed in the same way regardless of the type of device you use. This gives you a great deal of flexibility, and means you do not need to be concerned with wireless technological changes. The only requirement is that you establish a connection that utilises TCP/IP. This connection can be either "always on" or established only when the agent wishes to transfer data back to CCA.

Configuring CCA for CAPI work

CCA acts as a data collection centre. There are three things that need to be set up in order to run a CAPI survey:

To start CAPI work on a survey:

  1. Add a task to the CCA and define its properties; alternatively, reload the task if it has been modified (see below).
  2. Create quotas if you require them for this survey.
  3. Assign the task to a sample list. Click here for details on creating sample lists.
  4. Assign the task to a CAPI group. Click here for details on creating CAPI groups.
  5. Start the sample list (see below). The system will begin the outbound duty as soon as there are agents available. To learn more about how agents are allocated to inbound or outbound call duty, click here.

If you have modified the contents of a task, you have to reload it in order to apply these changes in CCA. Proceed as follows.

To reload a task:

  1. Right-click a task in the tasks window.

  2. Select reload.

To start a sample list, use the following procedure.

To start a sample list:

  1. In the sample lists window, right-click.

  2. In the context menu, select start.
