Conducting CAPI fieldwork

Note: this section describes how to use the AskiaFace interviewing app on iOS and Android devices. For details on configuring CAPI surveys in askiasupervisor, please see starting CAPI work.

There are several means of running CAPI projects:

using AskiaFace for iOS, with iPhones and/or iPads;
using AskiaFace for Android, with Android tablets;
using AskiaFace, with systems that run under standard Microsoft Windows (laptops and tablet PCs);
AskiaFace can also be run in kiosque mode on the iOS and Android platforms, allowing respondents to complete self-administered surveys. For details, please see using Kiosque Mode for self-administered surveys.

AskiaFace functions independently of the type of connection that the interviewer uses. The only requirement is for interviewers to establish a connection that utilises TCPIP. This connection can be either "always on" or established only when the user wishes to transfer data to the askiafield CCA.
