Selecting or creating an interview record (AskiaEntry)

AskiaEntry allows you to enter new interview records, or to edit existing ones. Click the interviews tab to begin selecting or creating a record. You can enter or edit data in either of two modes:

• Fast Data Entry: Enter or edit data with one question displayed at a time. A tree of questions is displayed at the top of the screen, allowing the agent to jump immediately to any question in the survey. This is the best mode to use for expert agents, especially when entering data from printed questionnaires, or for editing existing data.

• Screens: Enter or edit data using "friendly" interviewing screens, as defined for the project in AskiaDesign's Screen Mode. Depending on the design of the survey, several questions may appear on a single screen. Navigation between screens is carried out using large navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen. This is the best mode to use for conducting new interviews.

Set the interviewing mode you prefer by selecting use fast data entry or use screens as appropriate. You can switch easily between the two modes, so feel free to try them both. To begin a new interview, click new. Depending on the interviewing mode you have chosen, you will be taken either into fast data entry or screens mode.

To modify an existing interview, first ensure the record is displayed at the bottom of the window. Use the navigation buttons as described below. Once you have selected the data record you wish to edit, click modify. Depending on the interviewing mode you have chosen, you will be taken either into fast data entry or screens mode.
