In AskiaEntry's Fast Data Entry mode, you can navigate through the survey as follows:
Hit the ENTER key to move on to the next question.
On a closed question, you can select a response by typing its response number. On a single-response question, this also moves you on to the next question.
To move back to a previously answered question, click it in the top pane.
In a multiple-response question, either use the mouse to select the appropriate responses, or type the response numbers into the matrix of boxes beside the question.
When you reach the end of the questionnaire, you are asked whether you want to start a new interview. Click yes to begin a new interview.
To finish entering data in the current record before you reach the last question, use the controls at the bottom right of the screen:
OK: Finish the interviewing/data entry session, and save the data you have entered.Cancel: Finish the interviewing/data entry session, and abandon the data you have entered. The current record number and total number of saved records are displayed between the previous record and next record buttons (e.g. 12/28 indicates you are editing record 12, and there are 28 in total). If the current record number is higher than the number of saved records (for example 3/2), this indicates that you are currently entering a new record that has not yet been saved.

To help you find records and questions quickly, you can filter the visible records according to the data they contain, or restrict the questions that are shown. In the top pane, right-click. If you want to filter records based on data in a question, right-click that question. Then, select as follows from the context menu:
Filter responses: Defines a filter that restricts which records are visible. When you select this option, the filter condition dialog appears. Set up the filter condition (e.g. select the response yes and at least one to view only records where the respondent gave the answer yes to this question). To apply the filter, click OK.
Show all interviews: Remove any filter that is currently active (see filter responses above).
Select visible questions: Hides one or more questions, allowing you to more quickly navigate through the interview, as these questions will not be displayed. Move the questions you want to appear into the right-hand list. To move a question to the right-hand list, select it and then click the right arrow to move it across. If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can remove a question from the right-hand list by selecting it and then clicking the left arrow. Click OK to confirm your selection.
From version 5.4.6, the following commands are available to make setting up a list of questions even easier:
: Moves all closed questions (single and multi-coded) into the right-hand list.
: Moves all open questions into the right-hand list.
: Moves all numeric questions into the right-hand list.
Open: Opens a text file containing a previously saved list of questions. This enables you to quickly resume work on a previously saved set, or to open a set of questions saved by another supervisor. See the save option below for details of saving a list of questions.
Save: Saves the currently selected list of questions (i.e. those in the right-hand list) to a text file, so that it can be quickly re-opened again later using the open command (see option above). This allows you to prepare a list of questions for verification before commencing fieldwork by adding the shortcuts of the relevant questions. You can then share this list of questions with other supervisors by providing them with the file, and they can open it using the open command.
The text file contains a list of the question short-cuts, one per line, for example:
