Survey update error messages
When you attempt to update a survey task in CCA or Supervisor, you may encounter an error message indicating possible problems. These error messages are classified into four levels of warning, from Low to Critical. While all of these messages require your attention, some (High and Critical) absolutely must be fixed and/or checked before you try to update the survey again.
In CCA version 5.3.3.32 and higher, you will not be able to update a survey when critical errors have occurred. The ignore all warnings option is ignored for this specific level of error.
Level 1 : Low
These messages are mainly for information purposes.
You may see the following error messages:
- Last Revision Incompatible: there is a difference between the revision of the survey on the CCA and the QEX used to update the survey.
- Survey Is Older Version Will Upgrade: this message appears at the first survey update after a CCA Upgrade (for example, from 5.2.X to 5.3.X). When changing versions, there are new fields to apply to the previous survey structure. The CCA will carry out this process automatically.
- Charset Routing Used: From version 5.3.3, the usage of the Set Charset routing is no longer necessary, and can even lead to corrupted data. You should remove your routing immediately. In the meantime, the routing "Set Charset" is automatically deactivated in CCA and Webprod.
Level 2: Medium
These problems can have an impact on the behaviour of the survey.
You may see the following error messages:
- Imported Field Not Numeric: an imported sample list field is being imported into a numeric field in the survey but is in text format in the sample list itself. This needs to be fixed, as the sample list will be untargeted.
- Imported Field Not Found: an importation field declared in the survey is missing in the sample list. The field name is indicated in the error message. This needs to be fixed as the sample list will be untargeted.
- No Screen For Question: a question is set as visible during data collection, but the screen has not been generated. This needs to be fixed as the question will not be presented to the respondent and thus no data will be collected for the question.
- No Screen: indicates that no screens have been generated for the survey. The survey can only work in "key in" mode.
- Imported Field Not Found In Project: same as "imported field not found", but for scripts.
- Quota Modality Added: one more modality for a question in quota has been added in this update. The quota definition should be reviewed after the update.
Level 3: High
These problems can have a negative effect on data collection or survey behavior.
- Quota Question Deleted: a question present in a quota has been deleted. The question is indicated in the error message.
- Quota Sub Question Deleted: a question present in a quota nested tree has been deleted. The question is indicated in the error message.
- Quota Question Unavailable: a question still exists, and is used in a quota, but the option ‘available for quota’ is disabled.
- Quota Modality Deleted: one or more modalities from a question in quota have been deleted. The quota definition should be reviewed after the update.
Level 4 : Critical
These errors indicate that the update cannot be made. You will need to address the issue or issues in question before you can attempt to run the update again.
- Revision History Incompatible. Surveys are completely different: there is a problem with the QEX you are using to update your survey. It could be a corrupted QEX file or a QEX from another survey.
- Revision History Older Version: you are trying to update a survey with an older version, rather than the current version.
- No Shortcut: there is a missing shortcut in the questionnaire tree.
- Shortcut Already Used: a duplicated shortcut is present in your survey (i.e. two or more questions share the same shortcut).
- Loop Without Question: there is a loop in your survey that has no sub question.
- No Visible Question: there are no visible questions in the entire survey.
- Update Source Is Old Version Please Upgrade Update Source: you are trying to update a survey running with a specific version of askiafield/askiadesign (for example 5.3.X) with a QEX made with a previous (and incompatible) version (for example 5.2.x).
- Question Changed Type: a question has changed type and will result in data loss. The update must be cancelled.
- Incompatible Level: a loop question has been set as a normal question, or a normal question has been set as a loop. There is a risk of data loss, and the update must be cancelled.
