Adding a new survey position

To add a new survey position:

1. Go the survey administration page, and click new survey:

2. The following list appears, enabling you to specify which available position you wish to use:

3. Once you have selected a position, the following properties appear:

• External name: the position's External name. Though you can specify a custom External name for a position, we recommend that you use the default naming convention which will facilitate clarity and efficiency.
• Name of *.qes file (without extension): the survey's file name.
• Maximum size of resources files: the maximum Hard Drive disk which will be allocated to this position's survey resources. This enables you to limit the ability of authorised field agents to use your Web server for hosting material not related to the actual survey (for more information,see administration of available extensions for upload).
• Store quotas in interviews: if selected, quota strings are stored in the DAT file. If de-selected, they are not. When a large quota tree has been declared for the task in CCA, by de-selecting this option, you can significantly decrease the size of intvwXXX.dat.

4. Validate the position's general properties by clicking Submit. After submission, WebProd will search its Bases directory to see if the new position's specified *.QES file is already present: this may be the case if you are reactivating a previous survey, or if you have uploaded the file outside WebProd via a third-party FTP client. When the file is not found on the server, the following message appears:

In this situation, to upload the *.QES file click .The following window appears:

Click browse... to select the *.QES file, then click start to upload it to AskiaWeb. Once the file has finished uploading, click close.

5. The position is now ready to be edited. Click to go to the survey position's properties page.

6. Finally, click to save your new survey position. You can now test your questionnaire, and change its layout and other properties, on the edit page.
